Top 7 game intros of all time

I have been spending a lot of time playing DC Universe online on the PS3 recently, which has one of the best intros I have ever seen, and it got me thinking, is this the best intro ever?, and if not, what intros were better.

I have decided to make my list of the best video game intros ever, take a look and see if you agree …

note: this list only included actual released games, for example I have no doubt SWTOR will have one of the best intros (judging by the trailer videos), but its not actually released yet, so it does not count.

Number 7, Soul Blade (PS1)

I remember seeing this game intro for the first time in Gamestop, I bought my first Playstation and the bundled game (soul blade) on the basis of the video, its still one of my favourite fighting games for any platform, and a great intro, it was amazing for its time I thought.

Number 6, World of warcraft the burning crusade

Nobody makes Intro movies better then Blizzard, in fact you will see them alot on this list, burning crusade was the first expansion for WoW and the intro was amazing, beautiful colours, sexy dark elves, brilliant music, everything you want from a intro, really set the tone.

Number 5, Diablo intro

Again a great intro from Blizzard, great story setup from the intro, and again for its time the intro looked amazing, I always rememeber the crow eating the eyes from the corpse, thats Diablo, a classic game with a classic intro

Number 4, DC Universe online intro

Simply amazing video intro, as good as any animated feature, got me thinking about top intros in the first place, add in the great voice acting by Mark Hammel and Batman / superman, simply fantastic and beautifully animated.

Number 3, World of Warcraft intro

Yes OK blizzard again, but you have to remember how amazing the first WoW movie intro was, it help launch the most successful online (pay to play) MMO in the world, with its spectacular beautifuly drawn detailed characters, and epic music

Number 2, Descent 2 intro

This is an oldie, I think it was in 1998, anyway I remember watching this intro over and over again, on my new Gateway PC with 17inch montor which was huge for its time, great voice acting by Patrick Stuart (AKA Terminator 2), and a great score, the actual game was not so great though even with 3DFX support.

Number 1 Tie Fighter intro

Well this was an easy choice for number 1, the first game I thought of in my top er 7 intros list, OK even though it has not aged well, with the midi music, it was still an amazing intro for a game released way bay in 1994 or something, an age where sound cards were optional on PCs for god sake, anyway I dont care, its Star Wars and it setup an amazing game (Lucas Arts please make a modern update)

That’s no moon, it’s a space station!!, have a massive death star on your wall or in your office
